Specific Detail Info | Abstract This thesis is about the influence of conflict toward the Psychologi cal Condition of the main character in Sandra brown’s The Witness. The objectives of this thesis are to describe the influence of conflict towards the main character and to know the psychological condition of the main character in the novel from which the solution can be drawn. In writing this thesis, the writer uses some books and other references, which are connected with the problem. In analyzing The Witness, the writer uses two methods namely method of the study and method of approach. The writer uses two approaches. They are structural approach and psychological approach. Structural approach is applied to analyze the character, especially the main character and conflict. The Psychological approach is applied to analyze the psychological condition of the main character and the influence of conflict toward the psychological condition of Kendall Deaton of Sandra Brown’s the witness. The former method refers to the way of collecting data and information which are related to the study through some books and also the internet. Conflict as the element of a novel can give influence toward the psychological condition of someone. It can be other men, society. In this research, the writer gives some limitations which are focused on description of the conflict, the psychological condition and of the main character in the witness. In conclusion, the analysis shows that conflicts give influence toward the psychological condition of the main character. A story will be more interesting if there is a high conflict either external and internal. The internal conflict is of Kendall is when she gets John’s protection from boys teasing her. His protection makes her annoyed and is angry but it also pleases her. Then, all makes her feel safer and rely on his protection. The external conflict of Kendall is her conflict to the society. There is no relation between Kendall and all women in Prosper. She cannot make a friend with them. In her view, they are different. Then, it makes her feel excluded from the community. The feeling of alienation makes her jealous and possessive of Matt. |
